A striking vintage 10K yellow gold ring stamped 10K L. Kline, with an additional interior stamp featuring a diamond hallmark. The ring features a large, oval-cut green gemstone of tested natural origin. Based on its distinct yellow-green hue and brilliance, the stone is consistent with peridot (precious variety of olivine), a gemstone prized for its vibrant summer-green color and long use in fine jewellery. The gem is securely set in a tall, multi-prong claw setting, allowing light to pass through and enhance brilliance. In Alberta (and specifically Edmonton) there was a long-running family jewelry business, H.B. Kline & Co. founded in 1904 on Jasper Avenue. After H.B. Kline’s death in 1933, his son Louis (“L.”) Kline continued the store for decades. The firm and its history are documented by the Jewish Archives & Historical Society of Edmonton & Northern Alberta and by press coverage when Fort Edmonton Park recreated the historic H.B. Kline Jewelers storefront.
