A Chinese porcelain plate, late Qing dynasty, with pale celadon glaze finely enamelled in the famille rose palette with birds, butterflies, flowers and scrolling foliage, the base bearing an underglaze blue seal mark, adapted in Europe and mounted within an elaborate French gilt-bronze frame modelled as rockwork with three naturalistic birds perched around the rim.

Condition: Plate in very good condition with no apparent rim chips or cracks, enamels bright; small drilled hole to base from earlier mounting. Gilt-bronze mount with rubbing and oxidation to gilding, structurally sound.
