Continental School, late 19th–early 20th century, oil on steel plate tavern interior, showing two rustic figures seated at a table smoking pipes, one in a red cap leaning back on a bench with his feet up, the other turned toward him in conversation. Warmly lit interior with cupboard and hanging utensils beyond, painted with rich colour and smooth enamel-like finish typical of oils on metal support. Set in a period carved and gilt-composition frame with reeded inner moulding. Unsigned.
