A George V sterling silver candlestick of Regency revival Corinthian column form, by Daniel & Arter, Birmingham, 1914. The square stepped base with gadrooned border rising to a fluted column and ornate Corinthian capital, supporting a square drip-pan with beaded rim and circular candle socket. Hallmarked to the side of the base with maker’s mark D&A, anchor for Birmingham, lion passant for sterling and date letter ‘p’ for 1914. Weighted (loaded) construction, total weight approx. 481 g. Condition: Moderate, even tarnish and surface wear commensurate with age and use. Minor edge knocks and small dints to base and column but no obvious splits or repairs noted. Candle socket with light wax residue. Presents well and would respond attractively to a light professional polish. (Approx. height 17–18 cm.)
