Group of four European framed miniatures, comprising: (1) a French School portrait miniature of a young lady in Rococo dress weaving a garland of roses, watercolour on ivory wafer, mounted behind convex glass in an oval brass bezel within a rectangular ivory-veneered frame with ink-drawn foliate decoration, the reverse with printed French text and collector’s label inscribed “Mme de Pompadour?”; (2) a circular hand-painted miniature after Raphael’s Madonna della Seggiola, probably early 20th century, on a thin translucent support, mounted behind glass in a gilt metal bezel on a square red velvet strut frame, inscribed in Italian to the reverse; (3) a Continental hand-painted genre miniature under convex glass depicting an 18th-century gallant bowing to a lady on a stair, signed “René” lower right, housed in a faux-ivory and tortoiseshell-effect frame with gilt inner slip; and (4) a French School portrait miniature of a lady of the court in late 18th-century dress, watercolour on ivory wafer, mounted in an ebonised wood frame with gilt slip. French and Continental, 19th to early 20th century. Condition varies, with age-related wear, minor rubbing, cracks and shrinkage to parts of the ivory veneer, light surface marks, and frame wear throughout.
