Comprising a dark-stained wooden storage chest with hinged lid, relief-carved borders and applied floral carving, the front and top painted with large cream blossoms against a deep brown ground, raised on bracket feet with a small brass lock escutcheon; together with a mixed group of thirteen 19th–early 20th century English transfer-printed earthenware plates and dishes. The ceramic group includes: several blue transfer pieces with romantic landscapes and floral borders, a small “Willow” pattern plate, two mulberry/black transfer plates with figural scenes, pierced-rim blue plate, two flow-blue bowls with scrolling borders, a green transfer-printed bowl, and a pink/red aesthetic rectangular dish inscribed “1882” in ink, along with other floral and scenic patterns. Most with molded rims and typical Staffordshire bodies in various colour palettes—blue, black/mulberry, green and red. An appealing study lot for the transferware collector, sold together with the decorative painted chest in which they were found.
