Pair of small 19th-century Berlin architectural views, each titled in German and signed E. Gaertner in the image, after Johann Philipp Eduard Gärtner (German, 1801–1877). Each work shows a lively urban scene framed by an arched border with foliate scroll corners and inscribed title to the lower margin: “Die Hercoles Brücke” and “Die Königs Brücke.” Figures, carriages and trees animate the bridge approaches with the city beyond. Delicately hand-coloured in watercolour over printed outlines (probably steel engravings or lithographs) on paper. Both presented in period-style black frames with gilt slips and buff mounts, glazed.
