A full-size (4/4) violin bearing the “STAINER” brand at the upper back, featuring an arched solid spruce top and flame-figured maple back and sides, with traditional reddish-brown varnish and ebony or ebony-like fittings. The instrument displays signs of age and use, with surface abrasions, varnish wear, and a significant back seam crack visible. This violin is consistent in construction, style, and decoration with late 19th- or early 20th-century European workshop instruments modelled after the Tyrolean master Jakob Stainer. Country of origin is uncertain, with both French and German workshops known for producing similar branded violins in this period. Dimensions: approx 23 1/2 x 8 1/4 x 2 in.
