An assembled two-piece decorative ceramic lot comprising a large studio pottery jardinière and a Royal Doulton character jug. The jardinière is of substantial size, finished in a deep cobalt blue glaze and decorated in relief with applied grapevine, leaves, and grape clusters in contrasting stoneware, probably European and dating to the mid to late 20th century. The base bears an impressed shield-shaped cartouche with a stylised “S” together with an incised but indistinct potter’s signature. The accompanying Royal Doulton character jug is modelled as the jovial highwayman Dick Turpin, shown wearing a tricorn hat and decorated in bright polychrome enamels, with printed Royal Doulton lion-and-crown backstamp to the underside. A visually appealing mixed lot combining sculptural studio pottery with an iconic English character jug.
Condition:
Jardinière overall in very good condition, with a few small chips to the tips and edges of the applied leaves, and no cracks or structural repairs observed. Character jug with expected light surface wear consistent with age and handling.
