Group of two late Victorian wooden boxes, the larger a rosewood veneer jewellery or dressing box with mother-of-pearl escutcheon and stringing, fitted interior with red silk and compartmented tray; the smaller a mahogany box with simple brass escutcheon and later three-compartment interior. Both with hinged lids and brass locks (no keys). Condition: both boxes require restoration; veneers with cracks, lifting and losses, corners bumped, finish worn and scratched; interiors with staining, fading and fabric wear, one lid lining torn and detached in areas; hardware with oxidation. Larger box approx. 6 1/2 in. H x 12 in. W x 9 in. D; smaller approx. 5 in. H x 10 in. W x 6 in. D.
