Victorian burr walnut and inlaid games table, English, circa 1860–1870. The rectangular hinged top veneered in richly figured burr walnut, centred by a panel inlaid with an architectural landscape reserve within a geometric border, opening to reveal inlaid games surfaces for chess/draughts and backgammon in contrasting fruitwoods. The frieze fitted with a single drawer for games pieces, raised on paired turned baluster supports united by a ring-turned stretcher, the carved cabriole legs with leaf decoration terminating in small castors. A finely made mid-19th century games table combining practical gaming use with decorative appeal. Approx. 29 in. high x 32 in. wide x 18 in. deep
